Kingswear is a village in in the South Hams in south Devon, England. It is located on the east side of the River Dart facing Darmouth and is within a few miles of Stoke Fleming, and Dittisham and is one of over three hundred towns and villages in Devon in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest official cities are Exeter (population 106,772), Plymouth (population 243,795), and Truro (which has a population of 20,920 according to the 2001 Census).
Kingswear is perhaps best known as being the 'Dartmouth's railway station' for many years. Although no longer part of the main rail network, preserved heritage trains are still run along the line as the 'Paington and Dartmouth Steam Railway'. Vehicle and pedestrian ferries link arriving passengers with Dartmouth across the river. The steam railway and the beautiful river and scenes provide a real attraction for tourists.
